Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
This Gemini New Moon, which occurs just a few days before the Solstice, transmits a primary impulse to learn, understand and communicate. We’ve had two Aires lunar cycles this year followed by a Taurus cycle. Whatever new impulses toward personal growth we had in March and April, were internalised last month, and are now ready to be acted on and communicated in some way.
What new information do we need now that will help us figure out how to move forward?
What can we learn that could help us?
Who do we need to meet that can open up new ways of seeing things, or connect us to the right people?
During the New Moon the Higher-Self may well infuse us with fresh ideas and inspirations or we may find ourselves connecting with people in ways that keep us on track with where we are meant to go.
In relation to new creative pathways seeded earlier this year, this lunation can represent a time when we begin to work through the logistics, sketch out how we might go about things, and get new information that enables us to take a step forward.
This New Moon is fused with the energy of Juno and Asbolus and energised by Varda through an exact opposition. Some of these new ideas and inspirations may come through intuitive means, and the challenge will be about not dismissing these intuitive flashes as random or nonsensical. This month feels very much one where higher guidance wants to come through, so let's take a deeper look at the New Moon chart to see the personal growth opportunities.

As within: So without
Most prominent in the New Moon chart are 5 Yod formations, a lot more than usual, indicating that this lunation, as well as the imminent June Solstice wave, is encoded with a degree of challenge that is meant to generate greater personal humility and inner adjustment. If you consider yourself to be on a path of awakening, then this month may well feel inwardly challenging, and there might be frustration if things don’t feel like they are moving fast enough. This complex energy dynamic suggests that many of us are tasked with fine tuning our energy in order to optimise energy flow, as the energy on the planet keeps changing.
Answers will lie in our own personal relationship with the Divine feminine principle; for those aligned with a masculine dominant paradigm, lessons could be taxing this month.
Part of the new energy pattern emerging in the mirror of the sky, is the return of the Divine feminine principle as an essential co-factor in the ascension process and a collective shift of human consciousness on the planet. Of course the return of the goddess has been ongoing already for a few hundred years (ever since the first asteroids were named after goddesses), but as the collective ascension process continues, we can expect to see shifts in the way we both perceive and engage the feminine. Up until recently, the collective perception of the feminine principle has been through the distortion of masculine dominance and acute disconnect. As we become more inter-connected, our understanding of the feminine naturally changes as we move more and more into alignment and balance with cosmic natural laws. This month we are being asked to step up our appreciation and engagement with the feminine within, and most likely we will gain new insight and understanding about ourselves and about the nature of existence if we do this.
[for an evolutionary perspective providing a grand context highlighting why the return of the feminine is quintessential to ascension see an earlier post: Moloch:The False Matrix]
The 5 Yods indicate an onus on inner-change toward greater harmony and balance
Taken as a whole, the 5 Yods indicate that there is ongoing internal pressure to spiritualise, align with universal laws, wake up from the collective dreamspell (aka the False Matrix), reactivate past-life knowledge, reconnect with the power of the Earth for healing and regeneration, and expand into a deeper personal connection with Source, in order to activate higher awareness through the alchemical marriage of the Divine masculine and feminine within.
Varda’s high frequency transmissions coming via Juno and Asbolus conjunct this new moon, adds evolutionary tension and intensity in the world, as many are stimulated to overcome illusions and avoidance patterns and awaken to the spiritual nature of reality and the ordering principle of a Higher Power. In other words: increasing inner conflict between a secular world view and an intuitive natural law based orientation can only be resolved through a spiritual philosophical life approach.
The good news is that these ongoing astrological patterns indicate that many more people are beginning to awaken to reality as much bigger than they have been conditioned to believe. The intensity of the Varda-Juno-New Moon-Neptune T-Square if handled in a fearful way will also result in many seeking respite through denial, alcohol, drugs, binge-watching and other escapist avenues, and yet the pressure is most definitely on. Escapism may alleviate the pressure for a while, but the evolutionary drive is toward more connection with existence beyond the 5 senses that can only be found when we activate the ‘vertical column’ through the 7 chakras and move beyond a purely materialist world view.
How can we help ourselves?
Perhaps the most simple and important thing we can do is choose practices that keep us grounded and connected to the Earth. The hardest part about assimilating high frequency energy is to stay balanced through grounding protocols that work for us individually. Nature is generally the best resource if you have easy access to it. Walking in nature, swimming in the sea or in a lake, walking barefoot, hanging out at the beach, spending time in the garden or a park and so on, are good ways. If that isn’t easy to access, then taking a bath in some essential oils or strong herbal tea can be very good (I like to use herbs like rose petals, lavender blossoms, thyme, rosemary, and nettle; make a strong decoction, pass through a sieve and then add to bath water), bathing in clay can also be reviving (about 1 cup or so in a bath - green clay, bentonite or fullers earth are good options), adding sea salt to bathwater can also be helpful, and visual meditations that involve connecting with the Earth are another option to try.
Another way we can help ourselves is to actively cultivate an alignment with the Higher-Self by listening to the soft guiding voice within; this is a month when the spirit-world really wants to connect and communicate, and for many who do not have a well-established way of connecting to the unseen, the first path of connection that spirit-guides tend to use is either the inner-voice or synchronicity.
By choosing to embrace the feminine mode, which is to say that we agree to slow down, quieten the mind, let go of a need to do things all the time, and cultivate awareness of our inner-world, we can optimise this evolutionary process. If we can do this, then we can begin to glimpse the blue-print of our life path, and start to realise that each one of us has a map of sorts from which to derive a sense of life direction and meaning. Breaking free from the False Matrix is letting go of all the things we think we are supposed to do, and opening up to a much bigger universe.
The Inner Guide
There is nothing more exciting and life-changing than the discovery of inner-guidance. Believing in the idea is one thing, but when the moment happens when we perceive for ourselves the subtle connection of spiritual guides, there is really no going back. And once a crack appears in the wall of dogmatic conditioning, the spirit-world too gets very interested because there are many groups of subtle-beings who have a mutual desire to connect with us for growth purposes.
This month Pallas-Athene, the patron of heroes, forms the apex of a T-Square with Uranus and Typhon in opposition, which I think sets up opportunities for a deeper awakening to just how much guidance is available to each one of us if we open ourselves to it. So even if you are a seasoned modern-mystic, there is scope for even more to come through during this time, in service to our individual needs and path to self-realisation. The Pallas function within all of us will be more activated than usual, helping us navigate and make sense of our inner-world and path to wholeness. Remember that personal awakening always contributes to the collective evolution of humanity.
Love Thyself
Dark Moon Lilith’s key message is to recognise that we can love ourselves more than before, and that self-love is the baseline for spiritual progress. This isn’t to be conflated with narcissistic tendencies; we may even be challenged to overcome these traits if they are active in ourselves. Narcissism comes from a childhood deficit; of not being loved for who we are; it's a negative strategy to deal with a lack of self love. To bring love to the parts of ourselves that haven’t been loved is an act of healing, and when we love ourselves in a healthy way, the heart-cup overflows and there is plenty for everyone. When we don’t realise we lack sufficient self-love, we are likely to reach a stasis in self-development. To objectify chaotic deeply emotional personal patterns (the Typhon/Uranus opposition) can provide the fuel for awakening to a new level of creative potential, so long as we are not afraid to go a little deeper.
Forays into the unseen dimensions
This New Moon opposing celestial Varda forms an energised T-Square with Neptune at the apex in Pisces. Together with Juno and Asbolus (conjunct the New Moon) this is a potent time to explore all things spiritual. Anyone impulsed, especially during the time of the New Moon, to reach out for spiritual contact and communication, may find the energies very supportive and conducive to clear reception from "above and beyond". If we do decide to do this, whether through automatic writing, channeling, going to see a channeller for a personal session, or attending a circle with a medium, there is great potential for abundant and worthwhile experiences, which can quicken personal journeys and understanding. If you are feeling the pressure during this period, you may find some form of spiritual engagement part of your answer. This doesn’t have to be super formal, it's more about making space for the spiritual to happen in everyday life, by slowing down and recognising the value of spiritual experiences and connection.
Lastly...
For the budding or seasoned mystic, spiritual seeker and metaphysical philosopher, there is a lot going on. The activation energy has been particularly intense, and this year a new evolutionary thread is emerging, with many being invited to join. This new ‘way’ has a unique frequency, one higher than what has come before, and thus one which many are working to reach vibrational resonance with. I have been feeling this new possibility emerging around February this year, but it really kicked in during the Aries Equinox period. Not everyone will be consciously tuning into it at this stage, but those of us who are, are feeling an inner pressure to leave old realities behind. To birth something new isn’t exactly easy when we don’t know yet what it is, and can only trust as we feel into it more and gradually bring it into form. Each month since the Equinox, we get the opportunity to bring more of this new frequency of being into our personal reality, while observing a widening gap between who we are becoming and who we have been. This month may serve to provide us with a clearer understanding of what is being asked of us individually, and a clearer sense of what is to come.
