Libra New Moon Forecast '22

25th September 2022

Preamble:

The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.

For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aires new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.

At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.

Core themes this month

The new moon in Libra draws in lessons in the coming month connected with making things more balanced and harmonised in your life. The Libra impulse is to connect with others and to communicate in order to come to a clearer understanding on things. Who do we need to connect with in order to learn something useful? What do we need to become more objectively aware of? This might be a time to socialise more than usual, or to draw in information offering fresh or alternative perspectives. Above all, seed impulses this lunation will centre around being an equal player, cooperating with others and tuned into their needs, listening to what others really say and being open enough to learn something new about yourself. This may also be a time to make decisions, to reach for more equity or justice, or to give something up in order to maintain proper balance. This is also a time to receive equally from others, and to let others help you if you need help.

The chart cast for the new moon on 25th Sep 2022 22.54 BST [UK time] (17.54 EDT in the USA) has many of the same signatures as the September Equinox Forecast as it occurs just days apart. I cover in detail the core themes affecting the world in that earlier forecast, in this forecast I will focus more on the personal level relative to spiritual practice.

With a grand cross and four yods, not to mention numerous oppositions and squares, the chart has a lot of energy and tension, which generally means we will be challenged more this lunation in ways that stimulate us to overcome inner and outer obstacles. Without evolutionary grit, there is often little incentive to venture forth from the comfort of the known, so tension in chart analysis is generally a good thing.

The striking number of Yod formations highlights the intense inner-work that is called for in the name of balance and harmonisation with ourselves and others this month. Inconjuncts always represent some kind of blockage either internal or external that demands of us an adjustment, usually connected with a deflation of the ego and the cultivation of greater humility; until we do this we may feel stuck in some abstract sense and frustrated without quite knowing why. The recent equinox forecast highlighted how new information and understanding will be energised for the next 3 months, and the new moon chart directs this drive for understanding toward healing, self development and self-knowledge at the personal level this month.

  • How will our relationships reflect back to us what we most need to see in ourselves?

  • What inner changes do we need to attend to in order to bring more harmony and balance to our lives?

  • What feedback from others can help us understand ourselves better or clarify what we need to be and do next?

Perhaps the archetypes of most significance will be Chiron, Orcus, Chariklo and Typhon, because they each form the apex of a Yod and are going to be key areas of growth, playing out in the social arena, tying into this lunar cycle.

Since two of the apexes involve Chiron and Chariklo, the lessons of balance in relationships will most probably call for deeper healing processes to take place, or put another way, challenging or uncomfortable situations with others may shed light on patterns of wounding that we need to heal. The last lunar cycle that initiated through Virgo emphasised a call to heal trauma, and it appears that this next cycle will continue the theme, bringing to us greater understanding either through others acting as mirrors, or through our own thoughts, reflections and ruminations.

This is a complex energy gestalt, which I will try to explain as succinctly as possible:

There are five archetypes in play, which act as gateways to the shadow, suggesting that this month isn’t going to be easy. Typhon and Gonggong are perhaps the most difficult and chaotic, they represent deeply unconscious shadow forces, which can feel very disruptive and testing. Ixion can drive us to express the worst aspects of human nature if we are receptive. Dark Moon Lilith represents what we lack development in and contains our deepest personal fears. Orcus however allows us access to lost gifts, talents and abilities within the shadow and is thus a considerable ally in shadow-work.

The four Yod apexes I mentioned earlier will probably be the key areas where growth will most occur:

Typhon: Understanding the nature and reality of unacknowledged shadow energy, either at the personal level, or through experiences of potent collective shadow eruptions in the media or in the environment.

  • What do we need to learn about the shadow at this time?

  • If we are tested, will we endure?

  • What do we need to do in order to honour the shadow more?

  • Where might we be blocked in terms of dealing productively with the shadow?

If this happens for you, getting connected to nature will be a valuable counter-force, and using objective reasoned thinking may also help pierce any confusion.

Orcus: The journey to soul centred reality through initiations into the depths of life.

  • Are we in touch with the soul level of our being?

  • What is the nature of that relationship?

  • Do we need to go deeper?

  • Are we being called to descend into the underworld in order to grow and heal?

  • Do deep soul wounds hold us back from further development and growth?

  • Where might we be blocked in our soul connection and capacity to bring our true selves into the world?

  • What gifts are we afraid to own?

Chiron: Working with our deepest soul wounds. Learning to heal the mind-body split. Awakening through healing crises. Crisis as a means to spiritual initiation. Working actively with holistic models for correct living.

  • What is Chiron asking of us this month in relation to the shadow and soul connection, especially connected to wounds of violence, violation of boundaries, anger and aggression?

  • Where might we be blocked in terms of turning our sacred wound into our sacred work?

The Nympth Chariklo

Chariklo: Making space for healing to occur. Awakening through stillness, not-doing, holding space for change, and staying open to possibility.

  • Are deep fears around feeling vulnerable and sensitive holding us back from insight and new awareness?

  • How do insecurities or attachments to identity and self-image hold us back from shadow-work and self-inquiry?

  • Where might we be blocked with regard to allowing space for the sacred feminine in our lives?

Orcus in Virgo in opposition to Nessus in Pisces, sextile Typhon in Scorpio

For those actively on a spiritual path, we can expect this lunation to involve a degree of testing. We may be called to conscious suffering as we transmute low vibration patterns into higher ones. Shadow aspects may arise, which may cause us to feel uncomfortable, but allowing a loving space for discomfort has tremendous potential for sudden shifts in awareness and vibration. Mars in Gemini, which energises the inquiring mind, may be of significant benefit to shadow work, since it will enable us to objectify and rationalise intense feelings and perceptions, which can work to contain chaotic psychic energy.

Manwë and Jupiter in opposition to the new moon in Libra highlights a need to bring in and integrate intuitive visionary experiences and perceptions as part of the balancing process this month. It is time to take more seriously intuitive insight to bring more balance to our rational processes.

This is going to be a more internal month from what I see in the chart, and the achievements we make internally will have a direct affect on our external reality and practical changes we need to make to stay on track. Changes we make at this time will open the way for new relationship connections to emerge from now until the end of the year. With intense internal change, we can expect relationships to shift as well.

If you do indeed find yourself tested this month, remember that in natural law the test is always curated to your capacity, and that tests more than often push us to discover new strengths, will, and self-awareness. This is a month where karma may need to be balanced, which for some of us may feel like hard work, but the work will be worth it in the longer term.
