Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aries new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
To begin with…
This is the first of 2 consecutive new moons in Virgo (a relatively rare event), the 2nd new moon in Virgo will also be a solar eclipse. Occasionally the new moon cycle generates consecutive new moons in the same sign, the last time this happened it was in Aries a few years ago. This means that the archetype of Virgo is emphasised this year as part of our personal process; the seeding process from Higher Self to ego will occur over at least 2 months (and with the solar eclipse it will carry forward in some way for about 6 months).
This means that we will be spending more time adjusting to the new incoming energies and subsequent personal and global changes occurring. The Leo lunation was more creatively energised, and I thought it had quite a striking intensity given Pluto was in opposition - in my life I found myself challenged to uphold my personal sovereignty and review the nature and essence of my life purpose [mercury retrograde]. Through Leo you may have felt (as i did) some inner movement toward self-realisation and perhaps became more deeply aware of what dreams, ideas, projects and goals feel life enhancing, perhaps through the stark contrast with what feels deathly.
The Virgo process draws us to analyse and reflect on these impulses to make sure we have received them correctly and in a clear enough form; it is quite easy for psychic impulses to become distorted by limited conditioning - we can grab an intuitive creative impulse and bend it to fit our preconceived ideas about what is and isn’t possible.
Virgo offers us the possibility to purify and discern what is true about what motivates us and moves us in life. On another level, as the new higher frequencies continue to saturate the planetary field, they will necessarily drive low frequency energy patterns held at the soul level, or in the mental and emotional bodies, up to the surface to be cleared. Sometimes this clearing may coincide with healing and integration processes; sometimes events and perceptions may leave us humbled.
The Virgo lunation is also a time for greater discernment, gratitude for the abundance we have, and an opportunity to look at what’s not working in our lives and figure out what we need to do to improve outcomes.
With a Mystic Rectangle, a Grand Trine and a Yod, the chart for this Virgo New Moon is energised with considerable evolutionary flow and opportunity, so lets take a deeper dive into the archetypal themes on offer this month…

Adjusting to the new evolutionary necessity

A Yod featuring Pluto, Neptune, Saturn, and the New Moon at the apex, is perhaps the most central dynamic this month. Yod aspects are built from 2 inconjunct aspects and 1 sextile.
Inconjunct aspects offer a degree of tension that promotes both humility because we feel powerless and realise we cannot fight evolutionary forces, as well as a degree of inner adjustment and healing.
In this case, Saturn and Neptune newly conjunct in Aries (with the exact conjunction yet to take place next year) “team up” with Pluto in Aquarius. On a personal level, Pluto in Aquarius is calling us to liberate from whatever is holding us back from growth, and this wake up call is occurring through objective insight, radical revelations or “red pill” moments, as well as sudden traumatic shocks (shocks serve to break us out of inertia).
Meanwhile the Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Aries kick starts a new evolutionary movement toward a new spiritual paradigm. Since we haven’t had the exact conjunction yet, this process is still in preparation; we are clearing the way through the release and dissolution of long held ideas, illusions, and beliefs about what reality is and what life in human form is. We are literally teetering on the edge of something mind bogglingly incredible, while at the same time not really knowing what is coming next.
The resonant synergy of Pluto with Saturn and Neptune via a crescent sextile (60˚) highlights the very internalised nature of this process right now - the crescent sextile generates a lot of change within; we are each reformulating in the safety of our inner worlds; trying to figure out the meaning of our lives and what it means to be human in a world that is increasingly unstable and chaotic. So many of us want something different now; something more connected, more community conscious and relevant, and something slower, more harmonised and fulfilling. And yet the world is not a match to this inner yearning and we are unsure of how to get from “game A” (the current world paradigm) to “game B” (the new emergent reality founded on a shift in human consciousness into Love).
With the New Moon itself at the apex in Virgo, this internal reconfiguration will be a significant baseline of this months process.
We are each being asked to wake up, but in what ways do we need to wake up?
We are under pressure to liberate and release all obsolete and limiting notions of who we are, what we think life is, what we think we are supposed to be and do, as we let aspects of our inner reality go.
We are called to reframe our relationship with existence, while understanding that there is a higher force shaping everything in our daily lives. Time is running out; its going to get harder and harder for the ego to commandeer the steering wheel of the proverbial car (vehicle of life) and instead cede power and control over to the Higher Self (inner master).
More and more, our answers will be found in surrender

This month there will be mounting inner pressure to align with the Higher Self, and if necessary, to make some key inner adjustments to our life approach. If we are used to pushing and driving for outcomes, this might get turbulent while things feel obstructed or blocked until we actually let go!
The Mystic Rectangle - a gateway to spiritual breakthrough and release
The Mystic Rectangle is formed by at least 4 planets linked by 2 trines and 2 sextiles (you can see it in the chart as 2 longer green lines and 2 shorter blue lines making a rectangle). This alignment also means that there are 2 sets of oppositions from corner to corner (in pink forming an X shaped cross). This fusion of aspects represents an integration challenge that can more easily be overcome.
First and foremost the presence of the karmic nodes indicates that we will be working with trying to resolve and release the past, while also moving forward toward personal growth. The 2 goddesses - Vesta and Juno - are conjunct by exact degree in Scorpio, and these two represent a potent inner resolve to commit to personal release processes, and a deeply felt readiness for healing, change and empowerment. The sense here is one of personal conscience, where we are now more willing to defy or resist societal norms and outer authorities, in order to unveil deeper truths and feel better. In this way we can effortlessly release and purify past experiences. In some cases this may literally be about forgiving past abandonment and betrayal through an understanding of why these experiences manifested in the first place.
Meanwhile, Nessus conjunct the North Node makes a trine to Juno & Vesta; if we are willing to let go of previous transgressions against the inner feminine - for example when we were too driven or overbearing, or bypassed a need for self-care, or ignored our intuition, we can also let go of any guilt we carry in ways that open us up to more divine love and forgiveness.
On another vector this aspect shows how an inner commitment to self empowerment allows us to release victim consciousness and the pain related to that, which we may carry from several other lifetimes.
Albion in Taurus opposing Vesta & Juno, while sextile to the North Node and Nessus, points to a integration challenge, and a challenge to stay in the body when we go through deep emotional processes. Albion in this placement is a helpful ally and a symbol of the gift of this Mystic Rectangle opportunity, because we can emerge not only more empowered, but more expansive, quickened and more attuned to the emergent ‘New Earth’ frequency.
The awakening benevolent feminine continues

Vesta and Juno feel like key players this month, especially for those who are actively reconciling with the lost feminine principle. On that note there are 2 other elements to consider: an inconjunct to Eris and Chiron in Aries, and an extended conjunction with Typhon and Icarus in Scorpio.
The Chiron-Eris conjunction in Aries (ongoing for some time now) represents a collective healing process connected to the denigration of the feminine through violence and war. Sometimes this feels like we are collectively resolving the “cycling of war” as more and more realise that it is a dysfunction and not a noble ideal. In my view, war is a by-product of separation as a key expression of a Dark Age (now ending). In another sense it is an inherent characteristic of the False Matrix mind virus affecting humanity; a reality perspective built on rivalry and zero sum games - also now ending.
In personal terms, we are overcoming the way we wage war on ourselves, through allowing the feminine within to become more balanced and healed. For many, this expresses through chronic illness challenges, where we can choose to move away from a default pattern to “fight” the disease (often with poisonous treatments), and transition toward traditional and natural medicines, including real food, to cooperate with the body, to support the body's innate capacity to heal.
Icarus close to Typhon in Scorpio suggests a willingness to face the darker things in our lives, in order to resolve, integrate and move on. If we are too resistant and keep driving toward outer symbols of success e.g. through work, we may find ourselves plummeting into a murky emotional soup. My advice is to pay attention to what is going on for you, and be willing if necessary to slow down and allow any deep and intense feelings to have space for expression. Avoidance is never a good idea, but this month there could be more dramatic consequences if this is a default pattern.
Revelations and new understanding catalyse healing and self-adjustment

Pluto trine Uranus and Sedna makes for a powerful quickening in the world, driving us to be more true to who we were born to be. On a personal level, Uranus conjunct Sedna in Gemini, can bring shocking and life changing new awareness about past violations and abuse, in ways that ultimately empower and liberate; this will apply in a relative sense and will be different for all of us. In the main, it represents an opportunity to individuate and unveil deeper life purpose, through new awareness on personal patterns that divert us away from being true to soul and Self.
The Pluto-Uranus trine represents a fruition point within the Pluto-Uranus cycle (the evolution of individuated consciousness), which started back in the 1960s when Pluto and Uranus were conjunct in Virgo. This is a beneficial aspect, which I think will largely support global awakening, and add more energy to the transition into a new age of light.
When Uranus is involved with Pluto, there is an emphasis on sudden collective shifts, unexpected events and so on. On a personal level, this trine amplifies the tendency to throw off limiting social conditioning in order to unveil a deeper and clearer sense of our innate and unique ‘frequency’ and purpose in life. While Sedna carries collective trauma memory, she also embodies the capacity to know who we are meant to be, and have the courage to break from expectation and tradition to walk the path we were born to take. This lunation, any sudden insights and revelations that call us to move in new ways will challenge us to take action in some way and may even put us into a degree of crisis, but we must not just react in an uncontrolled way to any sudden new information, we have to check in with soul and Higher-Self to make sure that we are responding correctly.
New awareness will serve to support and quicken the dissolution of obsolete patterns and realties as we move more and more into alignment with the Unity Field.
Tending to feelings of vulnerability and insecurity as our worlds change
Venus in Cancer makes an exact inconjunct to Varda (Stellar consciousness), a trine to Typhon and Icarus, and a square to Eris and Chiron: our inner world may feel like a constantly shifting landscape awash with feelings and emotions that leave us feeling delicate and unsettled this month. War narratives might feel more challenging as we feel the pain of those victimised by war, and if this is true for you, consider how that empathy relates to internalised war on self, or deep seated wounding connected to similar experiences in your current life or past ones; if collective pain compels us too strongly its usually because we have unresolved aspects within ourselves to tend to.
Depth work of any kind often stirs up the emotional body, and with Venus in such a key position, we can expect to be feeling more in ways that can bring us into more wholeness. Feelings are nothing to be afraid of!
Finally…

Quaoar makes a square to Mars in exact conjunction to Makemake in Libra. My emerging ‘picture’ of Makemake correlates to the fall of human consciousness, and in particular, to the ancestral memory of past golden ages and mythic civilisations like Atlantis and Lemuria (I use mythic here to affirm their relevance as remnants of ancestral memory). Makemake is particularly resonant with the notion of “record-keepers”; those souls incarnating now who carry forgotten memory of those times and also the crystal record keepers deep in the Earth.

Quaoar is a high frequency activator - I associate Quaoar with the cosmic tree; the first expression of the One Creator. Quaoar now activates Makemake in Libra so that we can remember natural law principles once again. Mars acts as a means for some of us to awaken through past life memories now coming to the surface - this signature implies the activation of more of the crystal record keepers deep in the Earth, releasing lost information about our forgotten past and also our true human heritage and potential.
Mercury conjunct Varuna in Leo, making an inconjunct to Quaoar, and a sextile to Mars and Makemake, emphasises a strong opportunity to learn or reclaim something about ourselves in ways that make us wiser, more aligned with the higher-will and more self-governing.
Together with the ongoing Grand Fire Trine, this month offers some auspicious awakening gateways.
Following the previous Leo lunation that effectively flooded us with intense evolutionary energy, we are now entering a time period for process and integration toward a more holistic understanding of ourselves and life events. A key quality to cultivate is discernment; the use of analysis combined with intuition to assess how we are doing, and whether we can improve on things or not. The upcoming Solar Eclipse in Virgo at the end of the month will extend this Virgoan window beyond the usual 4 weeks, allowing us to go deeper in pursuit of self-knowledge and service to other.
