A note on forecasting:

The aim of forecasting isn’t simply to try and predict what is going to happen; the reader is not meant to be a passive receiver of a "fixed fate", in fact quite the opposite. The nature and purpose of forecasting is to build a living relationship with the archetypal energies in play: as we read, awareness is activated on deep levels that support the way we relate to a changing and dynamic collective field.
A connection is initiated with the living field matrix much like a generous handshake, salutation or greeting. In a sense it is a sacred tending of the spiritual fire; a way we can positively engage the imminence of the field, so that we can prepare and adjust to shifts in the energy around us. Like the strumming of chords on a guitar, we don’t have to remember everything precisely, but instead allow ourselves to be moved and attuned. In this way we already begin to respond even without really knowing. In some instances key themes may sing to us in ways that become more meaningful as the weeks pass and life events unfold.
Preamble:
The new moon can be thought of as a window in time when the Higher-Self initiates specific lessons or personal growth intentions for the coming month, and we can use the lunar cycle as a way of decoding evolutionary forces at a more granular level than the solar cycle or the transits of the slower moving planets.
For the spiritually minded person, the new moon is a time to receive the seed impulses for one’s personal evolution, and specifically those impulses toward bringing something new into conscious awareness. Each moon cycle fits into a larger cycle, which begins at the Aries new moon, and if you seriously want to track the unfolding pattern of higher-self guidance, it is a really good idea to record a log or journal of key messages and impressions received in the few hours before and after the new moon, roughly 4-5 hours on either side. During this window of time, make space to be more meditative and pay attention to your thoughts, inspirations, psychic messages and so on, as these will tend to correspond to the archetype the new moon is birthing in at the time, and correlate to the growth themes we are meant to work with during the month.
At some point in time (after a few months) you can look through your log and begin to see a key pattern unfolding, which can stimulate further insight in terms of life purpose.
To begin with…

This Capricorn New Moon is the first new moon of 2026, drawing us to consolidate plans for the year ahead, a process we may not have been quite ready for in the first weeks of the new year due to the Sagittarius influence from the last lunation, still active in early January.
The Sagittarius energy tends to energise a more easy going, optimistic and celebratory time, but now in the month ahead we are more likely to dwell on longer term goals and get more seriously back to the work at hand, and any responsibilities we may have.
The onus this month will be on drawing from deeper levels of mystery and meaning in order to better grasp what the coming year wants from us. This is a month where deeper self-reflection will reward us with a more visceral sense of where we are meant to be headed; a precognitive awareness of what the huge energetic changes this year will mean for each of us individually.
The following New Moon in Aquarius will also be a solar eclipse and will occur just 2 days before an auspicious exact Neptune-Saturn conjunction - one of the prime astrological events of 2026, which I cover in more detail in a recent post Paradigm-Shift 2026.
The Capricorn influence of this lunation is one of quiet self-reflection as we prepare for whatever will be seeded in the months following. Higher-Self impulses will centre around determining, and in a sense ‘divining’, the focus of personal life direction, purpose and fulfilment. We can look back to the beginning of the astrological year last spring, when the New Moon initiated in Aries, and review key themes from that time because these are now approaching culmination as we enter the final quarter of the yearly cycle.
The New Moon chart offers some dynamic and challenging aspects adding a degree of stimulus to internal processes, including a Grand Fixed Square, a T-Square, and 2 Yods, so lets take a deeper dive into the evolutionary themes on offer this month…

Fine tuning correct alignment

Central to the New Moon opportunity are two interlinked Yod aspects involving the New Moon itself. In astrology a new moon occurs when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction, representing a liminal moment in time when the ego and the Higher Self are most receptive to each other; messages and creative impulses are more readily received into ego awareness to carry us forward for 29 days. These messages and impulses tend to centre around key growth themes at the most personal level; they offer us a granular measure of personal unfoldment, which must be anchored into a wider overview context taken from larger cycles like the solstices and equinoxes (sun cycle), the cycles of the slower moving planets e.g. Pluto/Uranus or Saturn/Neptune, or from our own personal observations and correlations.
Yods primarily offer internal pressure to make some kind of adjustment toward greater evolutionary optimisation - even if outer events serve to challenge or block us, solutions are always found through the inner changes we make as a result.
While we might not be consciously aware of the subtle energies underlying manifest life, all of us are responding subconsciously, and while the 36 year Neptune-Saturn cycle approaches culmination, our inner process will involve wrapping up final lessons and karma, hopefully bringing us to new levels of understanding ourselves along the way.
The New Moon is sextile to the Neptune-Saturn culminating conjunction, highlighting how deep self-reflection links to completion and resolution of personal evolutionary themes; some things may have ended in our lives in recent months or years, but there is scope now to consciously bring certain life experiences to conclusion now through deeper understanding and acceptance. While we do this the key will be in our growing relationship with the Higher-Self as an innate part of who we are (not a separate entity), and how alignment to a higher ordering principle is now fundamental to the spiritual path as we enter 2026.
Taking time alone to reflect on your life, your feelings, your judgements and your sense of life mission or purpose, will help you prepare for the potent energy shifts this year. With Praamzius sextile to Hygeia it will be worth paying attention to heart-based awareness and bringing it into harmonious integration with the mind; in this way it is possible to gain insight about this next chapter in human evolution, and how we can meet it gracefully.
We can expect to make adjustments as we tune more to the changing energies now upon us.
The release of limitations

The foundation of this months introspective evaluation of where we are at in life, and where next we might venture forth, involves a natural orientation toward greater life freedom in some way. Pluto conjunct Vesta in Aquarius puts our attention firmly on overcoming any current life circumstances, whether inner or outer, which feel too limiting or tired and out-dated. There will be motivation toward seeing things in new ways, and deep unconscious desires for experiences beyond the life circumstances we have thus far created for ourselves.
The soul level of our spiritual nature will also take on more of a priority than usual; we’ll be tuning into what we deeply desire out of life, and throwing off any false desires we might have absorbed from others and society at large. With Mercury in exact conjunction to Mars in Capricorn, and very close to the New Moon, any urge to take action will be tempered by a practical and realistic mindset; we probably won’t be moved to do anything radical, but rather to be more restrained and patient as we try to work things out first. While inwardly there might be a yearning to break free to express more of who we truly are, we might feel somewhat compromised by responsibilities, expectations, obligations and duties.
The general theme here is one of determining one’s personal responsibilities (to the true path of awakening) through a surrender to higher guidance and the dissolution of old life structures and patterns, and in so doing to become more true to who we came here to be.
Moving beyond society for answers

As we ponder what the next few years will bring, a Grand Fixed Square provides a fair amount of inner tension and conflict. Uranus spends the last few months finishing up in Taurus before an ingress into Gemini: it has been important to awaken to our personal core essential needs over these last 7 years, liberating from false value systems, and waking up to what most matters to us.
While Praamzius in Leo calls more of us to a path of individuation and self-realisation, this has only been quickened by the past years of resource insecurities that really amped up during lockdowns and their long term consequences; during times of uncertainty and discomfort we are more likely to question our reality and who we are.
Pallas in Aquarius speaks to an evolution through a commitment to a sacred path of wisdom and learning; a reclamation of the old wisdom through a liberation of the mind; a personal call to reconnect with natural law principles, free from distortion, through an activation of the inner-feminine, and an opening channel to inner guidance, as a prerequisite for self-realisation and higher-self alignment.
Dark Moon Lilith in Scorpio highlights personal shadow work as a component of this months personal growth; we may have to deal more directly with feelings of powerlessness in relation to how we overcome personal limitations moving forward. We might be faced with co-dependency issues or patterns of control.
The fixed nature of this Grand Square dynamic might feel like a personal impasse, but the main direction of the energy is toward transcending society as the gravitational centre of our life perspective. This is to say that the answers we need as we approach the precipice of energetic change won’t be found so much in social customs, values and norms; we need to get more universal and start looking to the more-than-human-world. For some, this call might already be felt by a growing dissatisfaction with modern culture and what is has to offer. The general theme here is one of learning to trust the inner guiding voice, while we face inner fears about losing control. If we can do this a level higher than before, we can liberate into a new empowered creative flow.
New visions, maps and precognitive awareness

The culmination of Neptune and Saturn in Pisces emphasises the completion of past lessons, tying up of loose ends and the dissolution of obsolete personal life structures, and this ending process is the apex of a tense T-Square aspect with Varda opposing Asbolus. If we trust this months call to self-reflect on our lives, there is real scope to receive new visions for the future. These visions can be an overview of the next cycle, or they can be detailed puzzle pieces of a wider mosaic; we can know something more about what is coming next for us individually if we are open to knowing. Varda opposing Asbolus offers us guiding flashes meant to ground us better onto the path of awakening, and some elements can furnish us with snapshots of the future we are moving into or co-creating. These snapshots are meant to energise our focus on where we deeply moved to go next in life, and through this process we can make choices and fine tune our personal creative dreams and visions. This T-Square seems like a timely opportunity in the few weeks leading to the exact Neptune-Saturn inception point at 0˚ Aries next month.
The way new visions and creative impulses arise within each of us will of course vary from person to person, depending on how much spiritual knowledge and experience we have, how open and activated our energy system is, and so on. For some of us visions may come in small fragments, a bit like receiving a radio transmission with a lot of white noise. If this is the case we should write down as much of what we dream or see so that later the pattern can become clearer with time. For others, visions and messages can be startling and surprisingly clear and concise; this tends to come with healing processes, spiritual activations and practices that clear the field and open the channels.
Asbolus in Cancer plays a key role this month as he is trine to Haumea in Scorpio and inconjunct Pluto and Vesta in Aquarius, while square to Manwë and opposing Varda. Asbolus as a centaur object serves to link different archetypal dimensions together. In particular he bridges the realms of Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, and this makes Asbolus an agent for higher guidance, personal liberation and the expansion of understanding and awareness. Through Asbolus we are better able to receive the maps and blueprints of the future as well as the past (past lives).
In Cancer this function is further opened to the psycho-spiritual and astral realms, allowing for more sensitivity and thus an easier reception to higher guidance. This guidance will have everything to do with breaking free from personal limitations and social conditioning in ways that open us up to profound transformative potential. In this sense, a powerful inner guiding vision can radically alter the way we move in the world, and lead to choice-making that is both transformative, empowering, and consequential.
Otherworld journeys

Part of this window of receptivity involves the potential to connect with subtle dimensions of the planet - what the indigenous Celts called the ‘otherworld’, and what we might today think of as “inner earth” or Agartha. Aruwn (the archetype of the otherworld) is conjunct Venus and Icarus in Aquarius. Aruwn has only just made his ingress into Aquarius, marking a shift in the way we connect with these subtle dimensions, and I think we will see more activity from the inner earth dimensions in the coming months and years as a result. The fusion of these planets close to Pluto highlights the broad spectrum of visionary experiences possible this month, and such connections can be life changing; we cannot unsee what we have seen.
With Venus present in the mix, it is worth remembering that not all of these visionary experiences will be of the mind, some will come through heart activations as well, where we feel a deep knowing of things.
Finally…

Mars and Mercury are in exact conjunction, and this means their energies are fused together for this months development. In one sense this could mean that higher self impulses received at the new moon permeate more directly into linear thought and action; we might find ourselves doing things and mapping them only later as part of our personal unfolding pattern. The conjunction also speaks to the making of plans of action and goal setting. This will be directly linked to the new cycle emerging, and we might find a degree of clarity emerging as a result.
The Mars Mercury conjunction is in harmonious trine to Uranus and inconjunct to Hygeia: new plans will be linked to a burgeoning desire for more freedom, and support individuation, tempered by the integrative nature of Hygeia; whatever new directives arise must also honour our innate need and right to wellbeing; whatever we next choose must be pro life and pro harmony.
